Academic Sessions
Over the course of the conference, delegates are exposed to 4 to 5 university level lectures taught be Laurier Professors and Industry Professionals. Each year, lecture topics are selected based on the nature of the case. In the past, topics such as Marketing, Operation, Strategy, Human Resources, Finance, and Accounting have been covered. These sessions are designed to engage delegates and strengthen their business acumen, while familiarizing them to the university environment.
Industry Speakers
Throughout the conference students will have many opportunities to hear from professionals in many different industries, allowing them to learn about the wide range of careers in business. Students will also be able to ask speakers questions to further their understanding of topics presented. Coming into university many students are unsure of what career path they want to pursue, so hearing what different careers entail can be very beneficial.
The Case
Students are put into groups of 5-6 students from all over Ontario for the course of the weekend. They work with their groups to create a solution to the problem presented in the case. Each team will present their solutions to a panel of judges in their respective pool. The top team from each pool will advance to the finals, where they will be presenting to professors and company executives.
